East Meadow, NY…………………Victor F. Politi, MD, FACP, FACEP, NuHealth’s President/CEO, will join with officials from the Walgreens Corporation to celebrate the opening of the Walgreens Pharmacy located on the first floor of the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. Deeply discounted medications, offered through the federal 340B pricing program that NUMC obtains, will be available in the coming months to patients receiving treatment at NUMC’s outpatient centers or from one of NuHealth’s Family Health Centers, co-operated with the LI Federally Qualified Health Center, Inc.
Access to this medication discount program at Walgreens, with convenient location and extended hours, will help ensure compliance to prescription medications due to lower costs, continuity of treatment and help reduce morbidity, mortality and hospital readmissions. Access to medications is a challenge to many of the patients NuHealth serves and the Walgreens Pharmacy at NUMC will help address this issue.
