NUMC SCHEDULES BONE MARROW/BLOOD DRIVE FOR LEUKEMIA PATIENT OF KOREAN DESCENT

East Meadow, NY…….Leukemia patient, Mandy Manocchio, of Korean descent, is in desperate need of finding a donor for a bone marrow transplant. The Nassau University Medical Center’s blood donor center is holding a bone marrow/blood drive on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 2PM until 7PM on the Ground floor of NUMC.  Ms. Manocchio, whose two children are Trey, 6 and Kai, 5,  just finished chemotherapy but needs a bone marrow transplant in order to survive. The best chance of finding a bone marrow donor is a donor between the ages of 18 and 44 years, of Korean descent. The test involves no blood drawing and is as simple as a Q-Tip swab of the lining of donor’s mouth.

The NUMC blood donor center is at 2201 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, NY. For information, please call 516-572-6348. Inquiries may also be directed to amandamacchia55@gmail.com.
