MARIANNE FRIERI, MD, PHD, NUHEALTH’S CHIEF OF ALLERGY AND IMMUNOLOGY, ELECTED CHAIR OF FEDERATION OF CLINICAL IMMUNOLOGY SOCIETIES COP COMMITTEE

East Meadow, NY……….Marianne Frieri, MD, PhD, chief of allergy and immunology at the Nassau University Medical Center has been elected as the chair of the allergy community of practice leadership committee for the Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (FOCIS), meeting in Boston this year in June 2013 and next year in Chicago. The goal of the community of practice leadership committee is to empower and involve FOCIS members in its scientific program development and increase interdisciplinary communication.

“I am excited and honored to have been elected as the FOCIS chair of the allergy of practice leadership committee, and feel fortunate to be able to represent such a remarkable group of clinicians all playing a vital role in advancing the mission of FOCIS, gathering for sharing the latest findings and therapies,” stated Dr. Frieri.

FOCIS is a meeting in translational immunology with leading clinicians and researchers delivering the latest breakthroughs across immune-mediated diseases. Focusing on molecular pathways and their implications in human disease provides the unique opportunity for innovative thinking and apply ideas from the pathologies of other diseases to uncover novel solutions to challenges in these diseases.

World-renowned speakers explore their work and touch on the FOCIS themes of: Allergy, Immunoregulation, Immunodiagnosis, Immunogenetics, Immunotherapy and Host Defense. FOCIS has grown to 53 Member Societies that collectively represent over 65,000 basic and clinician scientists. The FOCIS meeting brings together these researchers and clinicians working in more than 30 clinical specialties and provides them with a forum to gather and share the latest findings, breakthroughs and therapies related to human disease. The FOCIS concept posits that interrelationships between fields sharing clinical immunology expertise will build a better and faster pathway to improve knowledge that leads to new therapies for inflammatory and immunologic diseases.
