East Meadow, NY… Marianne Frieri, MD, PhD, FAAAAI, FACAAI, chief of allergy and immunology in the Department of Medicine at the Nassau University Medical Center, will be presenting a poster and oral presentation representing NuHealth at the North American Rhinology & Allergy Conference, February 3-5, 2012 in Puerto Rico on Chronic Sinusitis and Steroid Unresponsive Cough- Induced Asthma. The North American Rhinology & Allergy Conference is an annual meeting, dually representing ear, nose and throat specialists and allergists, with the goal of improving the accuracy of diagnosis and effectiveness of treatments for rhinologic and allergic diseases. It is represented by many local and national ear, nose and throat specialists and allergists.
Dr. Frieri’s lecture will include conditions predisposing to rhinosinusitis and immunodeficiency, steroid unresponsiveness, association between asthma severity and degree of chronic rhinosinusitis, regulation of airway B cell responses and advances in current management and corticosteroid resistance. She will also attend the conference on topics related to anaphylaxis, common etiologies and treatment of allergic conjunctivitis relationship to rhinitis and management outcomes measurements in rhinosinusitis, sleep apnea in rhinologic disease, common variable immunodeficiency, update on sinusitis in patients with cystic fibrosis, spirometry in the diagnosis and management of asthma, nasal endoscopy in the diagnosis of nasal disease
Dr. Frieri completed her post-graduate residency training in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph Hospital an affiliate of Northwestern University Medical Center in 1980 and completed a fellowship in Allergy Immunology in the NIAID at the National Institute of Health in 1983, prior to becoming the director of clinical immunology and allergy immunology training at the Nassau University Medical Center. She is triple board certified in internal medicine, allergy immunology and diagnostic laboratory immunology and professor of medicine and pathology at SUNY Stony Brook and on the teaching faculty for New York College of Osteopathic Medicine at NUMC.
