MARIAN EPSTEIN, LMSW, DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL WORK AT A. HOLLY PATTERSON EXTENDED CARE FACILITY, APPOINTED TO THE NASSAU COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL

East Meadow, NY….Arthur A. Gianelli, president/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, announced that Marian Epstein, LMSW, director of social work at the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, had been appointed by Nassau County Social Services Commissioner, John Imhof, PhD, to serve on the department of social services advisory council for the term October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008.

As stated in New York State Social Services Law, the advisory council serves, in an advisory capacity to the Nassau County Commissioner of Social Services, with regard to issues concerning public assistance, children and family services and adult protective services.  In more specific areas, the advisory council can recommend the creation or modification of new or existing programs; identify community concerns for the department via needs assessments and public forum initiatives; and work with the department to jointly advocate for services on behalf of the residents of Nassau County.

“We are very appreciative,” states Nassau County Executive Suozzi, for the support we have from individuals, such as Marian Epstein, who donate their time and energy to the advisory council.  It is through their participation that ‘No Wrong Door’ continues to serve as a national model for the successful collaboration of health and human services agencies.”

In congratulating Ms. Epstein, a resident of East Meadow, on her appointment to the advisory council, Mr. Gianelli stated:  “I applaud your ongoing dedication and participation in helping improve the lives of Nassau County residents, especially the most vulnerable segment of our population, those coming to the Nassau County Department of Social Services for assistance.”

Nassau County Social Services Commissioner, John Imhof, PhD, said:  “Marian Epstein has certainly been a valued member of the advisory council and we look forward to continuing our positive working relationship.”
