East Meadow, NY -Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and Nassau University Medical Center CEO/President Dr. Victor Politi will join Department of Health Commissioner Lawrence Eisenstein during media availability, Today, Monday January 25th at 11am at NUMC in East Meadow, to discuss the storms safety issues for residents and tips at Nassau’s only public hospital. The hospital has increased its emergency staff since the storm and has outfitted ambulances and emergency vehicles with snow traveling gear. There has been an increase in patients due to the weather conditions, in which some doctors’ offices and medical clinics were closed. Misuse of snow blowers, generators other equipment can cause major injuries. Many heart attacks or bodily injuries are caused from over exertion from snow removal. Car accidents on the roads in hazardous conditions and fender benders have also added to an increase in patients at the medical center. Cardiac and other medical specialists will be attending.
