LONG ISLAND MEDICAL FOUNDATION, THE PHILANTHROPIC ARM OF THE NUHEALTH SYSTEM, RECEIVES $180,000 GIFT FROM THE HORACE AND AMY HAGEDORN FUND AT THE NEW YORK COMMUNITY TRUST
SIGNIFICANT GIFT FROM AMY HAGEDORN WILL SUPPORT NUHEALTH’S EFFORTS TO PROVIDE A MORE WELCOMING AND WARM ENVIRONMENT FOR FAMILIES AT NUMC
East Meadow, NY…….Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, announced that the Long Island Medical Foundation (LIMF), NuHealth’s philanthropic arm, has secured an $180,000 gift from the Horace and Amy Hagedorn Fund at the New York Community Trust. “I am delighted and grateful to Amy Hagedorn, a noted and respected philanthropist whose mission is to enhance the quality of life in our communities, for providing us with this generous gift to our obstetrics department to create a warm, welcoming, and comforting environment for families.” said Gianelli. “Speaking on behalf of NuHealth and the Board of the Long Island Medical Foundation, we are thankful for this grant to support our efforts to improve the waiting experience during such a profound time for families.”
In 1993, inspired by the many exceptional individuals and organizations serving and protecting Long Island’s diverse communities, Horace and Amy Hagedorn established the Horace and Amy Hagedorn Fund at the New York Community Trust. Approximately 90% of the funds disbursed have gone to support Long Island based non-profits throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties, improving the well-being of the people and communities of Long Island.
Amy Hagedorn, in confirming the gift to the LIMF, indicated: “I am pleased to award the $180,000 gift to support the Nuhealth System, in their efforts to provide a welcoming environment for families of obstetrics patients of the Nassau University Medical Center, as they await the birth of their newborn babies.”
The obstetrics family waiting area will be transformed into a more comforting, pleasing place for families. NuHealth’s Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Chaur-Dong Hsu expressed his gratitude and commented, “This gift provides us with a wonderful opportunity to achieve a renewal that will be greatly appreciated by our patients and their families now and for many years to come.”
