FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

East Meadow, NY…..Arthur Gianelli, President and CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, announced that the Long Island Medical Foundation, philanthropic arm of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, received a $10,000 donation from Endo Pharmaceutical Laboratory to benefit the Nassau University Medical Center Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) program. Mr. Gianelli, met with Dr. Ranjana Pathak, V.P. Quality Assurance & Compliance, of Endo Pharmaceuticals, on June 16th to personally thank her for Endo’s generous check of $10,000 in support of the SAFE program, a Center of Excellence at Nassau University Medical Center. “We are grateful for the generous donation for Endo Pharmaceutical Laboratory. The program is second of its kind along with the SANE Center located at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.

The program is based on a team approach focusing on community need and collaboration. It provides sexual assault survivors a unique environment in which a specially trained team of experts administer vital medical, advocacy, and personal support services. The specially trained team of experts are NUMC medical services, as well as advocacy and personal support services performed by the victim assistant program Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence, along with the specialization of our Nassau County Criminal Justice team which includes Nassau County Special Victims Squad and the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office. This approach not only supports the recovery and preservation of evidence, but prevents re-traumatizing the survivor and has resulted in an increase in the successful prosecution of sex offenders,” stated Gianelli.

In presenting the donation, Dr. Pathak told Lorraine Cashin, PA, Director of the SAFE program, and Anthony Boutin, MD, chair of the Emergency Department at NUMC: “Endo Pharmaceuticals had selected the SAFE program because the challenges of attracting philanthropic support in today’s environment are greater than ever. As a result, Endo hopes that its gift will inspire others to do the same and to consider the impact their charitable giving can make especially in areas that are chronically underfunded.”
