LI MEDICAL FOUNDATION RECEIVES $100,000 TWO-YEAR GRANT FROM J.P. MORGAN PRIVATE BANK, TRUSTEE FOR THE WILLIAM E. AND MAUDE S. PRITCHARD CHARITABLE TRUST, FOR 24/7 NURSING MEDICAL MANAGEMENT LINE
East Meadow, NY…..Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, announced that the LI Medical Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the NuHealth System has received a $100,000 two-year grant from the J.P. Morgan Private Bank, trustee for the William E. and Maude S. Pritchard charitable trust, for a 24/7 nursing medical management line.
“We are grateful for this grant which will be used by the NuHealth System to pilot a 24/7 nursing medical management line through NuCare, providing access to primary care and medical homes to the uninsured in Nassau County, and enabling our family health center patients to obtain continuous access to health information and improved health outcomes,” said Gianelli.
Access to a 24/7 medical management nursing line will provide a triage service and health information library to our community health center patient population. The nursing line will assess the callers’ symptoms to assist them in determining the proper health care action to take. In addition, this service will help build health knowledge and decision making capacity among our patient and help assure access to the appropriate level of care throughout the NuHealth System.
According to Diane Cohen, director of the NuCare Program, “NuCare proposes piloting this 24/7 nursing line in our Family Health Centers to evaluate its role in providing comprehensive care to the uninsured as well as our insured patients, who are primarily Medicaid and Medicare insured. The community health center population will be served through this pilot program, with the goal to make this service available to every patient obtaining primary care through the NuHealth System. Ms. Cohen expressed her gratitude to the grantors: “This 24/7 nursing management line will empower our patients to make good health care decisions and obtain access not previously available to them.”
