LEROY D. FRANCIS, MPH, ADMINSTRATOR FOR THE DEPARTMENTS OF SURGERY, OPHTHALMOLOGY AND ANESTHESIOLOGY AND PROJECT MANAGER FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICE, IS HONORED BY THE HEALTHCARE LEADERS OF NEW YORK, RECEIVING THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVES EARLY CAREERIST AWARD

East Meadow, NY… Leroy D. Francis, MPH, administrator for the departments of surgery, ophthalmology and anesthesiology and project manager for business development office at NUMC, has been honored by the Healthcare Leaders of New York (HLNY) and has received the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Early Career Healthcare Executives Regent’s Award. Francis was presented with the award on Wednesday June 16, 2010 at the HLNY’s annual gala held at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle.

In congratulating Francis on his well deserved honor, Arthur A. Gianelli, President/ CEO of the NuHealth System, said: “This outstanding recognition of being awarded the ACHE’s early careerist award is a testament to the hard work and dedication Leroy Francis demonstrates on a daily basis. We are indeed fortunate and grateful to have him as a member of our NUMC team.”

HLNY is the local chapter of ACHE and represents professionals who manage the business affairs of healthcare organizations throughout the New York metropolitan area. The ACHE Early Career Executives Regent’s Award recognizes the ACHE affiliates who have significantly contributed toward the advancement of healthcare management excellence and achievement of the goals of ACHE. Affiliates are evaluated on leadership ability, innovative and creative management, executive capability in developing their own organization and promoting its growth and stature in the community, participation in local, state, hospital and health association activities, participation in civic/ community activities and projects, and participation in College activities and interest in assisting the College in achieving its objectives.

Leroy Francis graduated from the University of Rochester with a BA in Health and Society.  He started his career as a Grants Manager at Biomedical Research Alliance of New York, LLC.  He then went on to receive a Masters in Public Health in Health Policy and Management from New York Medical College. After graduating in 2007, Leroy began an Administrative Fellowship program at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System.  The experiences and relationships forged at Cohen’s Children’s Hospital (formerly Schneider), the Emergency Department at Long Island Jewish Hospital, the Office of Strategic Planning, Nassau University Medical Center and the Health System provided him with a strong leadership foundation.
