LARRY SLATKY, CNHA, FACHCA, NUHEALTH’S EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS, TO RECEIVE THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF HEALTH CARE ADMINISTRATORS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
East Meadow, NY… Larry Slatky, CNHA, FACHCA, NuHealth’s executive vice president of operations has been selected to receive the American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) Distinguished Service Award, for his outstanding volunteer work with the ACHCA during the last thirty-five years, serving both the New York chapter and the national office. In New York, he has held every officer position, culminating his tenure as chapter president as well as serving as president of the foundation, creating fundraising opportunities both locally and nationally for the ACHCA to become a viable and operationally sound entity. Larry Slatky is a Certified Master/Fellow and only six other long term care administrators nationally have achieved this designation.
In a letter dated February 16, 2011, Richard Gamache, CNHA, FACHCA, Awards Committee Chair of the ACHCA stated, “On behalf of the American College of Health Care Administrators Board of Directors and the Awards Committee, I am pleased to announce that you have been selected to receive the ACHCA Distinguished Service Award for your outstanding service to the College at both state and national levels.”

Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, congratulated Mr. Slatky for his recognition by the ACHCA, “We are delighted that you are being honored for your professional service to the ACHCA. Your dedication to furthering the mission of supporting long term care leaders reflects your commitment to the success of ACHCA and the profession. Mr. Slatky has also recruited and mentored many long term care professionals and worked along side of them as they took on increasingly larger roles in the ACHCA.”
The Distinguished Service Award will be presented at the 2011 ACHCA 45th Annual Convocation and Exposition being held April 29-May 3 in New Orleans. The American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) is a non-profit professional membership association which provides superior educational programming, professional certification, and career development opportunities for its members. Guided by the vision that dynamic leadership forges long term health care services that are desired, meaningful, successful, and efficient, ACHCA identifies, recognizes, and supports long term care leaders, advocating for their mission and promoting excellence in their profession. Mr. Slatky, who resides in Cold Spring Harbor, was initially retained by the Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC) in 2001 to provide administrative consultation to the vice-president of long term care operations. In 2003, he was named senior vice president for the NHCC where he organized the day-to-day operations for A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, the nursing home that is part of the NHCC Health System. He maintained compliant NYSDOH and Joint Commission surveys improved operational efficiencies creating a management run facility and created structure of commitment and quality to assure quality of life and care for the resident population, families and staff of A. Holly Patterson. In 2009, he became executive vice president of operations for the NuHealth System, parent company of the Nassau University Medical Center, the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility and several outpatient centers.
