LARRY SLATKY, CNHA, FACHCA, NUHEALTH’S EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS, TO RECEIVE THE 2010 CORPORATE LEADERSHIP AWARD FROM THE EPILEPSY FOUNDATION OF LONG ISLAND
East Meadow, NY…Larry Slatky, CNHA, FACHCA, executive vice president of operations of the NuHealth System will receive the Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island’s 2010 Corporate Leadership Award. The foundation will present the award to Mr. Slatky, on November 19, 2010 at the Foundation’s 26th anniversary dinner dance gala at the Carlyle on the Green, in Bethpage State Park.
In a letter dated September 23, 2010, Thomas M. Hopkins, CEO and executive director of the Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island congratulated Mr. Slatky, “On behalf of the board of directors and staff of the Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island, let me say how pleased we are to recognize you with the Foundation’s 2010 Corporate Leadership Award. Thank you for your commitment to the Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island. I look forward to the opportunity to recognize you for your professional leadership and support of Long Islanders who face the challenges of living each day with epilepsy.”
Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System congratulated Mr. Slatky for his recognition by the Epilepsy Foundation, “We are delighted that you are being honored for your professional and personal accomplishments. You serve as a role model, reflecting your hard work on behalf of those suffering with epilepsy.”
The Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island was founded in 1953 by a small group of parents who were determined to see their children lead productive and satisfying lives. Although the foundation has always served people with epilepsy, as it expanded, it began providing services to people with other developmental disabilities as well. All of the foundation’s programs are designed to help people reach their full potential and enhance their sense of self-esteem.
Mr. Slatky was initially retained by the Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC) in 2001 to provide administrative consultation to the vice-president of long term care operations. In 2003, he was named senior vice president for the NHCC where he organized the day-to-day operation for A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, the nursing home that is part of the NHCC Health System. He maintained compliant NYSDOH and Joint Commission surveys improved operational efficiencies creating a management run facility and created structure of commitment and quality to assure quality of life and care for the resident population, families and staff of A. Holly Patterson.
From 1986 until 2005, he served as administrator and owner of the Waterview Nursing Care Center in Flushing, New York. As administrator for the Hillside Manor Health Related facility, Jamaica Estates, New York from 1984 until 1986 and has been involved in health care since 1968.
“I am humbled and honored to receive this award from the Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island, a vital organization committed to educating the public, teachers, health care professionals, and businesses about epilepsy, and serving as an advocate for those with epilepsy,” said Mr. Slatky.
