KENNETH H. HUPART, MD, CHIEF OF ENDOCRINOLOGY, DIABETES AND METABOLISM DIVISION AT THE NASSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER, HONORED AS EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH FOR AUGUST 2009

Recognized for his leadership and for continually promoting excellence in his division on behalf of his patients

East Meadow, NY……At a reception hosted by the employees of the Nassau University Medical Center, Kenneth H. Hupart, MD, NUMC’s chief of the endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism division, was honored as the August 2009 employee of the month, in recognition of his commitment and dedication to the patients of the Zaki Hossain Center for Hypertension, Diabetes and Vascular Disease.

“I am delighted to congratulate Dr. Hupart with his very well deserved recognition for his dedication to high quality care for all his patients and for his commitment to setting high standards in striving to be the best in everything that he does,” said Steven J. Walerstein, MD, FACP, senior vice president for medical affairs and medical director at the Nassau Health Care Corporation. “He has an enormous ability to motivate and lead others to achieve their best.”

Dr. Hupart is also the chair of the “clinical informatics committee” at the Nassau Health care corporation, a committee instrumental in reviewing and discussing any issues that concern clinical systems at NHCC.

Dr. Hupart obtained a B.S degree in bio-engineering from Columbia University in 1977 and a B.S. in biomedical science from the City University of New York in 1980. In 1982, he obtained his M.D. degree for SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. His training in internal medicine, including a year as chief resident, took place at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College Medicine where he also successfully completed a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. Since 2003 he has been chief and program director of the division of endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at NUMC. Academically, he has maintained his appointment as an associate professor of clinical medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is a very active member in a number of endocrine societies, has published widely, and is frequently cited as one of the “Best Doctors” in the Castle and Connolly Guide to Top Doctors as well as New York Magazine’s Best Doctors. Most recently, Dr. Hupart has been selected to chair the Endocrine Society search process for the position of Editor-in-Chief of Endocrine Reviews a journal publishing comprehensive, authoritative review articles concerning all aspects of basic, clinical and translational endocrinology.
