KAREN G. LESLIE, ESQ. APPOINTED AS NUHEALTH’S CHIEF COMPLIANCE OFFICER
East Meadow, NY……Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO for the NuHealth System, announces the appointment of Karen G. Leslie, Esq. as Chief Compliance Officer for NuHealth. In that capacity, Ms. Leslie is responsible for investigating any suspicions of fraud, waste, or abuse swiftly and thoroughly, through NuHealth’s internal compliance programs and processes. If a violation of NuHealth’s Code of Ethics or other wrongdoing has occurred, Ms. Leslie is responsible for implementing an appropriate corrective action plan, including disciplinary action against wrongdoers.

Ms. Leslie graduated from Barnard College with a B.A. in Psychology, and received her law degree from Seton Hall University Law School. Most recently she held the position of Special Assistant Attorney General (SAAG) in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the New York State Attorney General’s Office where she evaluated, investigated and prosecuted provider fraud (including false claims, whistleblower, kickbacks, and self-referral actions) as well as patient abuse cases. Her duties as a SAAG also included the analysis, and authority to settle civilly, provider billing and coding issues.
Prior to her tenure in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, she defended the State of New York, its agencies and officers, as an Assistant Attorney General (AAG) in the Claims Bureau, handling a wide variety of civil actions lodged against the State, including Unjust Conviction cases relating to DNA evidence.
Ms. Leslie was a prosecutor in New York and New Jersey, as well as a criminal defense attorney in Manhattan for the Legal Aid Society and in her own private practice. As an experienced civil litigator, she has handled a wide variety of substantive areas including medical malpractice cases, and was Litigation Manager for Mobil, supervising in-house and outside counsel, and eventually being promoted to Counsel, Real Estate and Land Development in Reston, Virginia.
Ms. Leslie, a resident of Suffolk County, also taught Appellate Advocacy as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Seton Hall University Law School, and was a member of various state and federal criminal defense appellate and trial panels appointed by New York State and Federal Courts.
