IRENE BURK, PSYCHIATRIC SOCIAL WORKER AT THE NASSAU COUNTY CORRECTIONAL CENTER MEDICAL UNIT, HONORED AS THE OCTOBER 2007 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
East Meadow, NY……At a reception hosted by the employees of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, Irene Burk, a dedicated, hardworking psychiatric social worker, providing mental health treatment and discharge planning services to the correctional center population, was honored as the October 2007 employee of the month. Ms. Burk, a resident of Wantagh, is a pleasant and caring person with a strong work ethic who is a vital part of our forensic mental health service at the Nassau County Correctional Center. Her ability to relate to patients and provide supportive psychotherapy during difficult times is an asset especially in a jail setting.
In congratulating Ms. Burk on her recognition, Arthur A. Gianelli, president/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation said: “Ms. Burk is a dedicated employee who successfully manages her assigned caseload and on many occasions, goes above and beyond, to assure that her patients are seen within our set time frames. She takes special care in providing detainees with the skills and information needed upon discharge with the hopes of making healthy choices and leading more productive lives, by remaining compliant with mental health treatment and ultimately reducing recidivism.”
