“Best Practices Award” recognizes his significant contributions to serving the interests of minorities and women in the business world
East Meadow, NY…..Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, was recognized at the Third Annual Minority and Women Business Enterprises Awards Program held in Mineola on February 27, 2009 and at which Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi and John H. Moye, Director of the Nassau County Office of Minority Affairs presented him with the “Best Practices Award.” Suozzi recognized Gianelli for his significant contributions to expanding opportunities to minorities and women in the business world.
During the special tribute, Moye commended Gianelli for his commitment to serving the interest of minority and women business enterprises (M/WBE).
The Office of Minority Affairs was created by the Nassau County Legislature to strengthen and build communities through programs, which promote the establishment and preservation of minority and women owned business enterprises.
“I am honored to have been recognized as the recipient of the special tribute by County Executive Suozzi and the Office of Minority Affairs. I am committed to expanding opportunities to minorities and women in the business world and to working toward forwarding the goals of the M/WBE program in order to encourage growth and enhance the professional capabilities of minority and women owned businesses on Long Island,” stated Gianelli in proudly accepting the “Best Practices Award” at the ceremony.
“Through the NHCC’s commitment to ensuring minorities and women owned business participation in our procurement policy and process, we have been able to open up doors of opportunity for minority and women business owners and have succeeded in 23% M/WBE participation for the Roosevelt Community Health Center project. Our mission does not stop there, as we remain committed to providing quality, results oriented opportunities for minority women and other disadvantaged groups, and to afford equal opportunities to meaningful participation in the performance of NHCC contracts.” added Gianelli.
Arthur A. Gianelli is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, a $545 million public benefit corporation consisting of the Nassau University Medical Center, the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, five community health centers, and one school based clinic. He was appointed to this position on June 1, 2006. For the previous decade, Mr. Gianelli served in senior executive positions for two Long Island municipalities. He was Deputy County Executive for Budget and Finance for Nassau County and Director of Operations for the Town of North Hempstead. Mr. Gianelli has earned a Bachelors Degree in History from St. John’s University, a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science from Brown University, a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Dowling College, and a Masters Degree in Public Health from Columbia University. Mr. Gianelli lives in New Hyde Park, New York with his wife, Nassau County District Court Judge Sharon Gianelli, and his two stepchildren, Cameron and Jessica.
