GIANELLI, MODERATOR AT THE HEALTHCARE LEADERS OF NY MEDICAID REDESIGN DISCUSSION, WITH GNYHA’S LLOYD BISHOP AND HANYS DENNIS WHALEN SERVING AS PANELISTS

THE NY CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF HEALTHCARE EXECUTIVES PANEL DISCUSSION HOSTED AT NUMC ON MAY 19, 2011, ATTENDED BY 120 HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS

East Meadow, NY… Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System served as moderator for the Healthcare Leaders of New York (HLNY), the New York Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) panel discussion, at the Nassau University Medical Center, on Thursday, May 19, 2011, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the auditorium. Mr. Gianelli was joined by guest panelists, Dennis Whalen, Executive Vice President for Policy of Healthcare Association of New York (HANYS), and Lloyd Bishop, Vice President for Government Affairs and Community Health Initiatives at the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA). The panelists discussed “Medicaid redesign- the healthcare organization’s role in formulating public policy.”

“I am honored to have been invited to participate as a moderator in the HLNY panel discussion, regarding Medicaid redesign. This successful event was hosted for the first time at NUMC, with over 120 health care leaders attending, networking and engaging in a discussion with executives from GNYHA and HANYS about the implicates of Medicaid redesign on health care delivery and financing systems in New York,” said Gianelli. “New York spends more on Medicaid per capita than any other state in the nation, but it only ranks 21st in program quality for patients. In most counties, Medicaid costs alone account for more than half of the entire county tax levy. I look forward to further discussing this topic with Mr. Bishop and Mr. Whalen.”
