EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES FOR QUALIFIED DEVELOPERS TO RESPOND IN JOINT PARTNERSHIP TO PLANS FOR CAMPUS REDEVELOPMENT OF ONE OF THE LARGEST DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN NASSAU COUNTY, WHILE HELPING TO REVITALIZE THE LI ECONOMY AND IMPROVE HEALTH CARE OF NASSAU RESIDENTS
East Meadow, NY…..Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, announced the issuance of two Requests for Proposal (RFP) for one of the largest development opportunities in Nassau County, for various components of the proposed redevelopment of the East Meadow campus, in which the Nassau University Medical center is located and of the Uniondale campus, in which the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility is situated. The RFPs are being issued in partnership with NuHealth’s master real estate developer, Health Care REIT, Inc.
“This is very exciting news and most important to the future of the NuHealth System, as we move forward, with Health Care REIT, a firm with tremendous experience, to effectuate plans for the redevelopment of the East Meadow and Uniondale campuses, creating extensive opportunities for various developers to help us further our mission and vision for these two properties and signaling the next exciting step in our redevelopment plans,” stated Gianelli. “We look forward to obtaining qualified professional developers to partner with us as we consider innovative and exciting proposals for one of the largest development opportunities in Nassau County, helping to transform our land resources, revitalize the economy and improve the health care of our residents.”

For the East Meadow Village for Healthy Living, the RFP will target rehabilitation of current resident housing and construction of new resident housing for medical residents, as well as partner for a new ambulatory surgery center with associated medical offices.
For the Senior Village at Patterson in Uniondale, the RFP will address 388 units of affordable senior housing, a 150 bed Medicaid Assisted Living Facility and 100,000 square feet of commercial office development.
According to Robert A. Benrubi, special counsel to the President/CEO, “Health Care REIT has great access to financing and extensive experience in developing health care and senior living facilities, helping us to create thousands of permanent jobs, meet housing needs of seniors and medical residents, provide medical offices, while improving health care for our patients.”

“This has been a long and fruitful process, with extensive returns of responses anticipated to be received from the issuance of the RFP. There have been numerous meetings with the East Meadow and Uniondale communities to reach consensus on the two villages concept and we will continue to obtain input from the communities as we focus on the scope, timing and financial aspects of these projects,” added Gianelli.
