GIANELLI ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF RICK MADHOK, MD, AS CHIEF OF THE NEUROSURGERY DIVISION AT THE NASSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
East Meadow, NY…Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, is pleased to announce the appointment of Rick Madhok, MD, as the new chief of neurosurgery at the Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC). Dr. Madhok will be practicing at both NUMC and The Cushing Institute of Neuroscience at the North Shore University Hospital.
“We welcome Dr. Madhok to our medical staff. Dr. Madhok possesses superb skills that are focused on providing quality neurosurgical services not previously available to NUMC’s patients, in a manner that puts patients and families first and foremost,” said Gianelli.
Dr. Madhok completed his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He completed his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, where he also completed a fellowship in endoscopic skull base surgery. Dr. Madhok specializes in minimally invasive neurosurgery, endoscopic neurosurgery, pituitary surgery, skull base surgery, cerebrovascular disorders, spine surgery, brain tumors and trigeminal neuralgia.
Steven J. Walerstein, MD, FACP, executive vice president for medical affairs and medical director at the NuHealth System, also welcomed Dr. Madhok to the NUMC medical staff: “The addition of Dr. Madhok elevates our neurosurgery and neurosciences program. He is a highly skilled surgeon as well as a strong patient advocate who has already had a positive impact on the care of numerous patients.”
“I am pleased to join the medical staff at NUMC as the director of neurosurgery, providing enhanced neurosurgical care to a patient population that previously, would not have been able to access specialists treating patients with brain tumors, pituitary tumors and back and neck pain. Our partnership with the Cushing Institute at North Shore University Hospital allows us to treat even the most complex of pathologies,” stated Dr. Madhok.
In a recent Newsday article, “She is thankful for her health”, grateful patient, Ruth Gutierrez, who has successfully recovered from a very rare spinal cord surgery, indicated: “This is a new life for me, a new beginning. This is a new me.” For Dr. Madhok, this is one of many post surgery success stories.
Madhok currently resides in Manhasset with his family.
