GIANELLI ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF LAURIE WARD, MD, FACP, AS CHAIR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF AMBULATORY AND COMMUNITY MEDICINE AT THE NASSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
Dr. Ward performed very well as medical director for ambulatory care at NUMC, most recently in an acting position as chair, and will lead efforts to transform ambulatory and community medicine into a regionally recognized ambulatory care network
East Meadow, NY – Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, announced the appointment of Laurie Ward, MD, FACP, as chair of the department of ambulatory and community medicine at the Nassau University Medical Center, where she will be responsible for overseeing clinical care in all the ambulatory practices within NuHealth, as well as furthering the ambulatory education for the students and residents within our institution. Previously, during the last two years. Dr. Ward had served as medical director for ambulatory care and then acting chair for the department.

Dr. Ward earned her medical degree form the University of Pittsburgh and completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse. She went on to complete her nephrology fellowship at Nassau University Medical Center (then Nassau County Medical Center) during which time she was awarded a National Kidney Foundation Young Investigator Award. Dr Ward stayed on at Nassau University Medical Center as the chief of the division of general internal medicine and an attending in the division of nephrology before leaving to pursue private practice. After a number of years in private practice and as a hospitalist, Dr Ward returned to Nassau University Medical Center as the medical director for the newly created department of ambulatory care and community medicine. She is board certified in both internal medicine and nephrology. Dr. Ward resides in North Merrick with her family.
