GARY BIE’S PRESENTATION FOCUSED ON STRATEGIC RESTRUCTURING TECHNIQUES, ESSENTIAL FOR SURVIVAL IN TODAY’S HEALTHCARE COMPETITIVE MARKET

East Meadow, NY……Mr. Gary E. Bie, CPA, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, was invited to speak on Health Restructuring in the 21st Century at a National Healthcare Summit held in Jacksonville, Florida on April 13-15, 2008.  Healthcare Executives from around the United States were invited to attend. Included as keynote speaker of the Summit were The Honorable George H.W. Bush, the 41st President of the United States, and The Honorable William H. Frist, MD, 18th Majority Leader, US Senate (2003-2007).

In praising Gary Bie for his insightful remarks delivered at the summit, Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NHCC said: “Mr. Bie was one of a handful of speakers invited to address this prestigious Summit, covering a wide variety of challenging issues facing the healthcare industry on a national level.  Mr. Bie’s presentation was focused on a variety of strategic restructuring techniques that are essential to survive as a healthcare provider in today’s keen competitive market.”

During his presentation, Mr. Bie discussed several personal case studies where these techniques yielded hundreds of millions of dollars in bottom line financial performance. From a federal perspective he cautioned the group about the potential devastating impact that broad based Medicare cuts could have on healthcare providers and state and local economies. Mr. Bie indicated: “I used the Berger Commission Study in New York State as a model that could be replicated throughout the United States, for rightsizing the healthcare system nationally and redirecting resources most appropriately. NHCC, recognized as a much needed, public safety net, fully integrated healthcare provider in Nassau County, was the recipient of $61 million from HEAL II and IV programs to invest in its infrastructure and reduce its debt, consistent with the Berger Commission recommendation.”

Mr. Bie concluded by saying: “Eileen, my wife of 18 years and I, were honored to be invited to such a prestigious event and to have had the opportunity to meet and speak with the Honorable George H.W. Bush and the Honorable William H. Frist, MD, regarding important healthcare issues facing the United States today.”
