FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

EAST MEADOW CAMPUS PROPOSED REDEVELOPMENT DEIS SCOPING SESSION SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 15, 2009 AT 5PM AT NUMC

East Meadow, NY…… A public scoping session for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) on the Village for Healthy Living at the Nassau University Medical Center will be held in the executive board room of NUMC on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 5 PM.  We are seeking to gather comments from the community to include in the DEIS.

The proposed action is the adoption of a Campus Land Use Plan and the redevelopment of approximately 35 acres of the 50 acre Nassau University medical Center Campus consistent with the Campus Land Use Plan (January, 2009).  The proposed redevelopment will include the reconstruction and expansion of medical resident housing, the development of health related research and medical office space, and health related commercial uses to complement the existing 19-story Dynamic Care building.  The 50-acre property will be re-subdivided as necessary to meet funding and/or leasing requirements.  The land use plan for the campus includes plans for open space, new and redesigned parking, improved signage, pedestrian connections throughout the campus, and appropriate improvements to existing infrastructure nece3ssary to accommodate proposed development.

Should you be unable to attend the scheduled public session, please do not hesitate to send your comments directly via e-mail to rbenrubi@numc.edu or by mail to:
