East Meadow, NY. . Dr. Ken Steier, Patient Safety Officer and Associate Medical Director at Nassau University Medical Center, has been selected as a team chair by the American Osteopathic Association’s Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation for medical school inspections, leading inspections at schools throughout the United States. In this capacity, Dr. Steier will oversee a team of 5 to 7 inspectors who visit and evaluate AOA-accredited medical schools for compliance with national standards for administration and finance, student services, and preclinical and clinical education through the four years of medical school. Dr. Steier has been serving on these teams in various capacities since 1998.
Steven J. Walerstein, MD, senior vice president for medical affairs and medical director at the Nassau Health Care Corporation, congratulated Dr. Steier on being selected as team chair by the AOA for medical school inspections and said: “Dr. Steier’s appointment to this national leadership position evaluating medical schools, further demonstrates the quality of the faculty’s commitment and expertise in providing quality healthcare.”
