EAST MEADOW, NY…David S. Rosenthal, MD, FACP, FACE, faculty member of the division of endocrinology, Nassau University Medical Center, has been invited to present a “Meet the Professor” session at the 81st annual meeting of the American Thyroid Association (ATA).
This presentation will summarize the ATA Practice Recommendations, published April 2011 in the journal Thyroid, concerning patient care and public health issues related to the use of radioactive iodine in the treatment of thyroid diseases. This report was the work of the ATA Clinical Affairs Committee Task Force on Radio-iodine Safety, of which Dr. Rosenthal was a member.
Founded in 1923, the American Thyroid Association is a professional society of 900 U.S. and international physicians and scientists who specialize in the research and treatment of thyroid diseases. The mission of ATA is for scientists and physicians to better understand the treatment of thyroid diseases: leading in the promotion of excellence and innovation in research, education, and public policy.
David S. Rosenthal, a resident of Selden, is assistant professor of clinical medicine (endocrinology) at the State University of NY – Stony Brook, assistant clinical professor at St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions, and faculty member of the division of endocrinology, Nassau University Medical Center. He obtained his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine postgraduate training at Wilford Hall US Air Force Medical Center and his Endocrinology Fellowship at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Rosenthal’s career has been in clinical practice, clinical research and medical education with a special focus on thyroid disease.
