MOST PRESTIGIOUS AND SCIENTIFIC SOCIETY IN OBSTETRIC AND GYNECOLOGIC FIELDS WITH MISSION TO IMPROVE REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH OF WOMEN EVERYWHERE
East Meadow, NY…..Chaur-Dong Hsu, MD, chair of the obstetrics and gynecology department at the Nassau University Medical Center, has been selected to present four research papers at the Society Gynecologic Investigation, a most prestigious and scientific society in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology, from March 17-21, 2009 in Glasgow, Scotland. The four research abstract papers will be presented by Dr. Hsu during the 56th annual meeting of the SGI, a society where only research scientists with required scientific publications and recommended by senior SGI members can be approved by SGI board of directors to become a member. Dr. Hsu became a member of SGI in 1994 while he was at Yale University. The society includes medical physicians, those with doctorate degrees and reproductive research scientists from the United States and from throughout the world. The topic at the 2009 SGI Annual Scientific Meeting is “Science and Women’s Health: The Impact of Genes, Hormones and Environment.”

The four scientific papers to be presented in Scotland by Dr. Hsu are:
1. Elevated Serum Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, Soluble Selectin and Soluble Fas in HELLP Syndrome: Placental and Vascular Endothelial Apotosis and Damage.
2. The Role of Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-) and Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in the Transmigration of Neutrophils in Intra-Amniotic Infection.
3. Plasma Soluble Thrombomodulin Levels in Unexplained Recurrent Pregnancy Loss.
4. Elevated Soluble Thrombomodulin Levels in Placental Previa with Hemorrhage.
