BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES NOW OFFERED AT NUHEALTH’S LONG ISLAND FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTERS
East Meadow, NY…………..The NuHealth System, in conjunction with the Long Island Federally Qualified Health Center, Inc., (LIFQHC), announces that the LIFQHC will be offering Behavioral Health Services (BHS) at its five Family Health Centers, providing services that touch the lives of patients and families struggling with emotional, behavioral, social, and medical issues.
“We are proud to launch BHS at our health centers with the LIFQHC, to better integrate medical and behavioral services with a program designed to help patients and their families deal effectively with emotional issues. A broad range of individual, family and group treatments and medication services for issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, ADHD, and behavioral issues will be provided in each of our NuHealth Family Health Centers,” stated Victor F. Politi, MD, FACP, FACEP, NuHealth’s President/CEO. “These services will help to produce better outcomes while reducing the total cost of treating many of our medically complex patients.”
The BHS clinical staff consists of highly skilled doctors, psychologists, social workers, and support staff who provide highly specialized health assessments which are used to develop treatment plans for each patient. Experienced staff coordinates the care to help manage multiple needs and involve other caregivers as active partners in improving the health of our patients.
The LIFQHC is bringing a new kind of care to the communities that need it most. “Our goal is that every Long Islander has a “medical home” — a place where people you know provide the kind of primary, preventative, and behavioral care that safeguards the health of you and your family. To help patients and families achieve their goals, we provide individual therapy group, medication management, family therapy, social work support and case management,” added Dr. Politi.
According to David Nemiroff, LCSW, Executive Director of the LIFQHCs, “We offer a number of treatment interventions serving the needs of children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients. With the addition of BHS, LIFQHCs aims to provide both medical and mental health services under the same roof as we constantly strive to meet the goal of serving Nassau’s vulnerable populations.”
