East Meadow, NY… Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, was invited to be a guest speaker at the National Association of Public Hospitals (NAPH), fall conference. The conference was held on November 8th and 9th, 2010 in Washington, DC. Gianelli’s presentation was entitled “The Long Island FQHC: A Case Study: Creating Integrated Health Centers: Building and Partnering with Community Health Centers.” Topics discussed included: all aspects of the NuHealth System, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC), the Long Island FQHC, Inc, in which Gianelli, gave a description of the arrangement and timeline for approval and concluded with lessons learned from over the years.
Over 100 executives from NAPH member hospitals met in Washington, DC, at the NAPH Fall Conference. This conference gave NAPH members opportunities for networking and discussions on implementing health reform.
Members heard from a variety of speakers who provided insight on Accountable Care Organizations, Quality Driven Payment Reforms, Integrated Health Systems, and many other topics that impact safety net providers and the vulnerable populations they serve.
“I am pleased to have been invited to speak at the NAPH fall conference this year. This opportunity allowed me to discuss my insights regarding integrated health systems. I was able to share my knowledge on the benefits of FQHC’s around the country as well as on Long Island. The information I prepared for the conference was a direct result from my experience obtained during the last four years as the leader of a major multi-facility public safety net,” said Gianelli.
As President and Chief Executive Officer of the NuHealth System, Gianelli oversees a $545 million academic medical center, safety net provider, and integrated health delivery system consisting of the Nassau University Medical Center, the A. Previously, Gianelli was appointed to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the NuHealth System in March 8, 2006.
During his tenure, Mr. Gianelli shepherded the NuHealth System to profitability for the first time since its inception ten years ago. Since he began his tenure as Chief Executive Officer, the NuHealth System has been awarded nearly $80 million in funding from the State of New York for facility modernization, developing an electronic medical record, and debt relief. Mr. Gianelli has earned numerous professional, educational, and civic awards and serves as a board member for a number of not-for-profit, professional, and advocacy organizations. Mr. Gianelli has delivered numerous presentations around the country on panels hosted by the National Association of Public Hospitals, the New York State Health Foundation, and the Bond Buyer.
