ARTHUR A. GIANELLI, PRESIDENT/CEO, NASSAU HEALTH CARE CORPORATION, INVITED TO SPEAK AT “EVERY CHILD MATTERS’ PRESS CONFERENCE ON “PUTTING CHILDREN ON THE POLITICAL AGENDA” FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE
EVERY EFFORT MUST BE MADE TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR MOST VULNERABLE, OUR CHILDREN, ARE PROTECTED AND PROVIDED WITH HEALTH INSURANCE
East Meadow, NY…..Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care, was invited to speak at the press conference held by the national organization “Every Child Matters,” in which several invited guest speakers urged both presidential candidates to put children on the political agenda and remind all our local elected officials that the future of Long Island children is in their hands.
More than 24,000 hand tracings from children have been collected by hundreds of youth organizations and government agencies across Long Island and will be presented to local representatives of the McCain and Obama campaigns during the events.
“Every Child Matters” has also distributed 2,500 voter pledge cards to parents who have promised to consider voting for those candidates who make children, youth and family policies a priority. Scheduled speakers at the press conference included:
Arthur A. Gianelli, President and CEO, Nassau Health Care Corporation
Amy Hagedorn, Hagedorn Foundation
Suzanne LeBlanc, Executive Director, Long Island Children’s Museum
Maggie Martinez Malito, Executive Director, Nassau County Youth Board
Michael Petit, President, Every Child Matters
“We have to redouble our efforts to make sure that our most vulnerable population of children are protected through programs that improve health outcomes for all children, and ensure that the health care needs of children are a national political priority,” stated Mr. Gianelli.
“The NHCC has been working diligently on various initiatives to transform the outpatient health centers, to focus attention on outcomes that are poorest in Hispanics and African American patients through our Institute for Healthcare Disparities and the Zaki Hossain Center for Hypertension, Diabetes and Vascular Disease as well as initiating a Healthy Kids First program to enroll every child in a health insurance program such as Medicaid or Child Health Plus. In addition, the NHCC has started Phase I of the NuCare initiative to provide a medical home for the uninsured and to be managers of health care for those who are not having their health care managed. We are creating an infrastructure to help patients navigate our safety-net health system and help them obtain the quality health care they deserve,” concluded Mr. Gianelli.
