FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ARTHUR A. GIANELLI, NASSAU HEALTH CARE CORPORATION PRESIDENT/CEO, ELECTED TRUSTEE OF THE CITIZENS BUDGET COMMISSION, AN ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO INFLUENCING CONSTRUCTIVE CHANGE IN THE FINANCES AND SERVICES OF NEW YORK CITY AND NEW YORK STATE GOVERNMENT
GIANELLI JOINS FORMIDABLE LIST OF DISTINGUISHED BUSINESS AND CIVIC LEADERS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANALYZING FISCAL AFFAIRS OF CITY AND STATE GOVERNMENT
East Meadow, NY…..Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, has been elected as a trustee of the Citizens Budget Commission (CBC), a nonpartisan, non profit civic organization, devoted to influencing constructive change in the finances and services of New York City and New York State government.
“I am honored to join a formidable list of prominent and distinguished business and civic leaders who serve as CBC trustees, responsible for analyzing the fiscal affairs of city and state government. I look forward to working together with the CBC trustees for the benefit of the residents of New York State, with a common goal of supporting the CBC mission,” said Gianelli.
The CBC serves as a watchdog and a research organization, studying the most pressing issues, publishing reports with recommendations for improved performance and tracking public officials’ progress toward implementing change. In addition, the CBC serves as a dissemination of information, while shedding light on the problems, budgets and delivery of services of City and State government.
CBC was founded in 1932, a time of great fiscal crisis, when a group of distinguished civic leaders decided to start a research organization that would analyze the city’s finances, evaluate the management of city government, report on these matters to its members, and recommend improvements to municipal officials. In 1984, CBC expanded this analysis to the fiscal affairs of State government.
In June 2006, Gianelli was appointed to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, a $545 million public benefit corporation consisting of the Nassau University Medical Center, the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, four community health centers, and one school based clinic. For the previous decade, Mr. Gianelli served in senior executive positions for two Long Island municipalities. He was Deputy County Executive for Budget and Finance for Nassau County and Director of Operations for the Town of North Hempstead. Mr. Gianelli has earned a Bachelors Degree in History from St. John’s University, a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science from Brown University, a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Dowling College, and a Masters Degree in Public Health from Columbia University. Mr. Gianelli lives in New Hyde Park, New York with his wife, Nassau County District Court Judge Sharon Gianelli, and his two stepchildren, Cameron and Jessica.
