FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
A. HOLLY PATTERSON EXTENDED CARE FACILITY FOUR DAY SURVEY RESULTS IN DEFICIENCY FREE SURVEY, WITH ALL FEDERAL PROGRAM LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS IN SUBSTANTIAL COMPLIANCE
SECOND TIME ACCOMPLISHMENT, SINCE BECOMING A PUBLIC BENEFIT CORPORATION, FOR 589 BED SKILLED NURSING FACILITY, IS DUE TO STAFF’S EFFORTS TO MAKE AHP A PREMIER FACILITY IN WHICH TO OBTAIN NURSING HOME CARE
East Meadow, NY….. Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation announced the deficiency free results of a recent four day unannounced survey conducted from August 13, 2009 until August 18, 2009 by the New York State Department of Health Medicare and Medicaid compliance survey for licensure of the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility (AHP). During the four day survey, conducted by the eight NYSDOH surveyors at the 589 bed skilled nursing facility in Uniondale, all federal licensure requirements were reviewed and found to be in substantial compliance. There were two minor environmental issues that require correction, one of which was corrected at the time of survey and the other one after the survey.
“This is truly a wonderful accomplishment for Larry Slatky, Senior Vice President for AHP and for Anthony Restaino, administrator of AHP, along with the staff and residents living at the nursing home. You should all be very proud of this deficiency free survey and I congratulate all of you on your efforts to make AHP a premier facility in which to obtain long term care,” said Mr. Gianelli.
Mr. Slatky, whose leadership was instrumental in achieving a successful survey, thanked the AHP staff for their hard work and dedication: “This success was the result of a team effort that was not accomplished over a period of months but years. It should be noted that a deficiency free survey does not mean perfection, but rather that no observation rose to the level of a deficiency. We need to also thank Art Gianelli and Gary Bie, CFO for their support and the NYSDOH for providing the needed guidance to achieve quality of care and life for the AHP residents.”
Anthony J. Restaino, administrator of the AHP stated: “The staff at A. Holly Patterson is a truly remarkable group of professionals and paraprofessionals. Achieving two consecutive surveys with no federal citations highlights that fact. Going forward, our goal is to maintain the highest measure of quality resident care while continuing to uphold the high standards which have elevated the facility to its current status.”
The federal and state licensure requirements reviewed during the survey dealt with numerous quality of care and life issues, including treatment and meal observations, infection control, medications, life safety, maintenance, social work, therapy, food and nutrition activities and nursing.
