A. HOLLY PATTERSON EXTENDED CARE FACILITY ACHIEVES NYSDOH DEFICIENCY-FREE SURVEY, A SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR A FACILITY SERVING NASSAU’S VULNERABLE POPULATION

EVIDENCE THAT AHP STAFF HAVE COLLABORATIVELY WORKED TOGETHER UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT FOR OPERATIONS, LARRY SLATKY AND ADMINISTRATOR ANTHONY RESTAINO, TO ENSURE THAT QUALITY OF CARE AND SAFETY OF RESIDENTS ARE TOP PRIORITIES

East Meadow, NY.  Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, proudly announced that the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility in Uniondale has been recently surveyed by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), receiving deficiency-free survey results in overall quality, health inspection and quality measures, a recognition that reflects NuHealth’s commitment to improved quality.

“For three out of the last five years, the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility has achieved NYSDOH deficiency-free survey results. This is an exceptional achievement and speaks to the continued high quality of care provided by the staff at the 589 bed nursing home. It also speaks to the administrative leadership of Larry Slatky and, now, Anthony Restaino,” stated Gianelli. “Congratulations to the entire team for putting in motion this tremendous accomplishment.”

The Department of Health entered A. Holly Patterson on October 17, 2012 in order to conduct the facility’s annual recertification survey.  The survey process, called the Quality Indicator Survey, was implemented by the Department of Health in 2011.   The process utilizes the responses of over 70 resident and family member interviews (Stage 1), which trigger a focused, more in-depth review in certain areas of care (Stage 2).  At the same time, the Life Safety portion of the survey was being conducted by the Life Safety Specialists.  The survey lasted six days and in the end, the facility passed with flying colors.  In fact, A. Holly Patterson received a deficiency-free survey.  Not only was the facility not cited for any health related Federal Tags, but there were no Life Safety deficiencies either.  It was a true 100% deficiency free survey.

Slatky commended the staff for their exceptional dedication and commitment to quality care for all 589 residents:  “This recognition would not have been possible without our staff’s emphasis on quality of care and residents’ safety, with staff’s hard work day to day, leading to the financial and quality of care turnaround for a facility that had previously had numerous challenges and succeeded in accomplishing in astonishing turnaround.”

Restaino congratulated the AHP staff on the deficiency-free survey: “The staff of A. Holly Patterson has once again proven why we are a 5 Star Facility and one of the premier facilities in the state.  I am truly proud of the loyalty, dedication and hard work that they have all demonstrated.
Our entire staff deserves to be recognized for their commitment and dedication to the safety and quality of nursing home care provided to each of our residents who call AHP their home. This impressive achievement confirms to the public that the AHP staff is dedicated to providing care in an environment devoted to compassion, high quality care and the safety of our residents.”
