62 YEAR OLD LI WOMAN ATTACKED BY PIT BULLS, TO BE RELEASED BY NUMC TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2011.  SHE WILL SPEAK OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH MEDICAL OFFICIALS ABOUT HER CONDITION


EAST MEADOW, NY…Nassau University Medical Center Officials will release  62  year-old Shashi Bala Sharma of North Merrick today after being mauled by two pit bulls while running on the track at Brookside School in North Merrick. She will hold a news conference with NUMC officials for the first time since her attack.
 
Dr. Louis H. Riina of the NUMC Burn Center will discuss her current conditions and future, since being released by intensive care. The patient spent over two months at NUMC after her life threatening attack, mainly in the emergency department, intensive care unit, burn center and physical medicine and rehabilitation department. She will be able to join her family for the Thanksgiving holiday.
