Dialysis

When your kidneys are unable to perform due to renal disease, toxic substances (impurities and wastes) and excess fluid from the blood can build up, eventually leading to death, if not removed. Our unit offers two forms of dialysis: Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis. Hemodialysis is a method of diverting blood from the patient to a dialysis machine, where it is filtered before being returned to the body. Most patients require three treatment sessions each week, each of which lasts 3-4 hours.

Peritoneal Dialysis is a form of dialysis that is performed at home after being thoroughly trained by our staff. Patients attend a monthly clinic at the outpatient center.

At the NuHealth Dialysis Center at A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, a caring, highly experienced professional staff provides personalized, state-of-the-art outpatient renal dialysis services in a bright, comfortable new setting. Our goal is to deliver the best treatment in a manner that is reassuring and respectful of each patient’s dignity.
