Nutritional Counseling

America is in the midst of an epidemic of obesity that has caused an alarming increase in many serious, potentially life-threatening health problems, including hypertension, Type II diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It has also been linked to infertility and a higher prevalence of colon, prostate, endometrial, and, possibly, breast cancer. In fact, former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, MD, and other health care leaders have labeled obesity as the second leading cause of preventable deaths in the United States.

At NuHealth, encouraging healthier eating habits is a key element in our overall approach to wellness. Your NuHealth physician or other health professional may refer you to our registered dieticians and nutrition counselors to help develop a personalized eating plan. We also regularly hold free classes at Nassau University Medical Center and our Family Health Centers to help families make changes in diet and lifestyle that will lead to longer, healthier and happier lives.
