Freedom of Information Law

NASSAU HEALTH CARE CORPORATION dba NuHealth (hereinafter, “NHCC”) has adopted regulations governing when, where, and how you can see public records.

The amended Freedom of Information Law (“FOIL”), which took effect on January 1, 1978, gives you the right of access to many public records.

Public records may be requested by regular or electronic mail addressed to the records access officer or in person at the address listed directly below by delivering a written request to:

Records FOIL Officer
Emma Carey
Attn: FOIL Request
2201 Hempstead Turnpike
East Meadow, New York 11554

All requests for records will be processed in accordance with the procedures set forth in FOIL.  NHCC reserves the right to refuse access to any record that is exempt from disclosure by law.

Records made publicly available by NHCC in response to a specific written FOIL request can be seen at:

Nassau University Medical Center
2201 Hempstead Turnpike
East Meadow, New York 11554
Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (public holidays excepted)

Upon arrival at the hospital, report to the main lobby and you will be escorted to the area in which the records are available for inspection.

Alternatively, you may request that records be reproduced and mailed to you.  NHCC charges a statutorily authorized fee to cover the costs associated with such reproduction.

If you are denied access to a record, you have the right to appeal, in writing, within thirty (30) days of said denial.  You may direct any written appeal to:
