East Meadow, NY….. The NuHealth Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the NuHealth System, will be hosting its annual “Sapphire Ball” on Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Cradle of Aviation, at 6:30PM, in Garden City, New York.

The Foundation’s mission is to inspire philanthropic support by raising awareness for the critical role the NuHealth System/NUMC plays on Long Island, delivering quality care through a robust healthcare network that includes Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC), A. Holly Patterson Extended Care, and a network of community-based LI FQHCs.

NuHealth System President/CEO, Dr. Victor F. Politi, says, “There is so much more to the NuHealth/NUMC story than people may know. We deliver high quality, comprehensive healthcare in a variety of innovative ways to tens of thousands of patients each year, from all walks of life. It is essential that NuHealth/NUMC, like major health systems in other regions, enjoy the support of its community in order for it to continue to serve its needs.”

Many of NuHealth’s recent innovations and successes will be highlighted at this year’s Ball, including the recently opened cardiac catherization lab, the Level I Trauma designation and testimonials from several grateful patients.

NuHealth Foundation executive director, Linda Walsh, along with NuHealth Foundation Chairman Zaki Hossain, note that, “Many of these important projects are being made possible because of the support of generous individuals, businesses and others who understand how critical it for NuHealth/NUMC to thrive.”

This year’s gala honorees were selected because of their belief in and commitment to giving back to the communities they live in: The Harvey and Ellen Weisenberg Foundation (Advocacy Program for Families with Special Needs), The TKO Strong Foundation (Enhancing the Lives of Children Born with Microvillus Inclusion Disease) and Dr. Ijaz Ahmad (Park Slope Cardiac and Diagnostic).

“As philanthropy assumes a greater institutional priority and becomes more ingrained in the culture of the NuHealth System/NUMC, we wanted to recognize and honor leadership that both values and demonstrates corporate social responsibility in its many forms,” said Dr. Politi.
