The disease is a serious bacterial infection that can lead to inflammation of the lining covering the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms of the disease include high fever, vomiting, a stiff neck and a rash. Most schools start next week after the Labor Day holiday. If not vaccinated, it can be a serious and lethal disease for teenagers and young adults.

Those who contract the disease may experience permanent brain damage, kidney failure and loss of arms, or legs, or chronic nervous system problems. This vaccination is required by the State Department of Health starting on September 1, 2016 for all public and private schools. No high school student can attend school without this important vaccination!!!!.
