New State-of-the-Art Facility

NuHealth and the staff of our Obstetrics/Gynecology department celebrate the opening of our brand-new Maternity and Newborn Center at Nassau University Medical Center. The center is designed to better serve expectant mothers with either high- or low-risk pregnancies by providing comprehensive perinatal and OB/GYN services in a calm and relaxed environment.

The transformation includes 18,000 square feet of labor and delivery suites – seven rooms for low- and medium-risk births, three triage spaces with exam rooms and private bathrooms, and two additional large birthing rooms, each containing a water tub for underwater deliveries for low-risk mothers to complement the existing tub room.

The center also features two waiting rooms with a large central nursing station, and a spacious and relaxing lobby for family members. A birthing suite is also being built with two rooms including tubs for underwater deliveries.

Nassau University Medical Center is the only hospital on Long Island (including Queens and Manhattan) to offer hydro birthing as a natural alternative for low-risk mothers. The Maternity and Newborn Center will also include a 22-bed postpartum suite.
