General Obstetrics

NuHealth’s General Obstetrics services are widely regarded as one of the region’s top practices, with the lowest Caesarean section rates of all Long Island hospitals with OB practices today. Prenatal care is offered at both the Nassau Medical Associates office in East Meadow, and our Family Health Centers, and each patient establishes a relationship with her own physician and an exceptional nursing staff trained to care for both her and her child. We also hold regular classes in childbirth preparation, breast feeding and infant care, encouraging parents to share their concerns and experiences, and provide mutual support.

At our NUMC practice, a complete array of services can be found under a single roof, including ultrasound, a non-stress testing lab, and Level II sonograms. Subspecialists in high-risk obstetrics are on hand for immediate consultation. NUMC’s highly secure Labor & Delivery area includes 10 home-like birthing rooms, as well as the only hospital-based suite with a water-birthing tub on Long Island. Most important, our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is well-prepared for any complications, with a staff of specialists in neonatology, pediatric cardiology and pediatric surgery ready to intervene when needed. So, no matter what challenges present themselves, our patients can rest assured that they and their babies are in caring, competent hands.

Above all, NuHealth’s obstetrics staff wants to guide our mothers, fathers and loved ones through what will be one of the most important events of their lives – from that breathless wait for confirmation of her pregnancy, to the thrill of first hearing the fetal heartbeat, and on through those all-important bonding hours after birth. We encourage you to schedule a visit to our Labor & Delivery area, and join the NuHealth Women’s Care Network on Facebook, where you can ask questions of our staff, and share and compare experiences with current and former patients.
