Cardiac Catheterization

Cardiac catheterization or a cardiac angiogram makes it possible for NuHealth’s cardiac specialists to identify blocked heart arteries and problems with heart function, with the hope of preventing or repairing damaged heart muscle. A small IV is inserted into the main artery in the leg or wrist, painlessly followed by a long, thin hollow catheter that goes up to the heart arteries. Contrast is then injected into the heart arteries and images are obtained, giving us a clear picture of the blood vessels and the heart chambers, and how effectively they are pumping blood to the body.

Our close partnership with the North Shore-LIJ Health System allows us the ability to easily and quickly schedule cardiac percutaneous interventions or stents at North Shore University Hospital if the need arises, with access to the most advanced and current technology and equipment available.
