Lyn D. Weiss MD, Chairman
of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)
Department, is a 1985 graduate of SUNY Downstate
Medical Center School of Medicine and is Board
Certified in both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Weiss is Professor
of Clinical Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
at SUNY Stony Brook and Adjunct Professor of Clinical
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at New York
College of Osteopathic Medicine. She served both
her internship and her residency at Nassau University
Medical Center and has been Chairman of the Department
since 1994. In addition to her Chairmanship, Dr.
Weiss is also the Director of the Residency Training
Program, the Director of Electrodiagnostic Medicine,
and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of
the Medical Staff.
Dr. Weiss has a strong interest in research, has
written many articles, and has presented numerous
lectures at the national level. Dr. Weiss has had
four books published; Easy Injections, published
in 2007, Easy EMG, published in 2004, Skin Care
Triad, published in 2000, and Cumulative Trauma
Disorder, published in 1998. She is presently working
on a fifth book, The Oxford Handbook of PM&R, which
will be published in 2009. She is a mentor for the
medical students at both Stony Brook and New York
College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Weiss has been interviewed numerous times on
both local and national television programs. Her
peers recognize her contributions to Medicine and
listed her in ‘The Best Doctors in America’, ‘Who’s
Who in American Women’ and ‘Who’s Who in Science
and Engineering.’
