Pastoral Care at NUMC

The Pastoral Care Department at NUMC is committed
to providing for the spiritual needs of our patients,
their families and NUMC staff. Chaplains are on
staff for the Catholic, Protestant and Jewish faith
traditions. Also available are clergy from the Greek
Orthodox, Jewish Orthodox, Islamic, Hindu, and Jehovah
Witness religious traditions.
Staff chaplains are in-house seven days a week,
from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to offer spiritual
and pastoral care to you and your family. They are
also on-call 24 hours a day for emergencies. You
can request the services of a chaplain by calling
the Pastoral Care Office at 572-3195, the Page Operator
at 572-6233, or by speaking to a member of your
health care team.
The hospital also has an interfaith chapel, located
on the main floor, which celebrates daily Catholic
Mass at 12:00 noon and Muslim worship services at
1:15 p.m. on Fridays. Every Monday through Thursday
at 1:15 p.m., a Minyan is held in the Radiology
Conference Room on the 2nd Floor of DCB. Please
contact the Jewish chaplain for any other services.
Catholic Mass is also offered in the auditorium
every Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and every Sunday and
holy day at 12:00 noon.
NUMC understands that it is important for you and
your family to fulfill your religious and cultural
responsibilities during your hospital stay. For
this reason, in addition to chaplaincy and religious
services, the Medical Center also offers patients
Glatt Kosher meals upon request.
