The Nassau University Medical Center
is located in Nassau County, a sound suburban community
which offers a superior quality of life to its residents.
There is a diversity of recreational and cultural
facilities that includes parks, theaters, beaches
and sports facilities.
Neighboring the Medical Center is Eisenhower Park,
a vast expanse of land that has been developed for
recreational activities of all kinds. The 1998 Goodwill
Games was hosted at the Nassau Coliseum, Eisenhower
park and the Mitchell Field Park. Recreation and
cultural facilities are plentiful and include four
colleges, each within five miles of the hospitals.
The world-famous Jones Beach, several state parks
with tennis, horseback riding, swimming and golf
and several theaters nearby. For those interested
in boating, fishing or surfing, both the Atlantic
Ocean and Long Island Sound are readily accessible.
Music lovers will find many local concert programs
with internationally known performing artists. Historical
sites and museums as well as many wildlife preserves
are found throughout the Long Island area. Also,
New York City can be reached from the medical center
either by car or by train within 45 minutes.
The Nassau-Suffolk area of Long Island, which now
has a population of 3,000,000, is serviced by the
medical center. It is constantly growing and in
need of practicing physicians in all fields. A large
number of our graduates practice in this still unspoiled
bi-county area which is our backyard and enjoy the
rare combination of the modern teaching medical
center, pleasant suburban living, a busy practice
and the proximity to New York City's vast resources.
