As Vice President for Correctional Health Services at the Nassau Health Care Corporation, Mr. Capoziello is in charge of providing all health services for the inmate population of the Nassau County Correctional Center. Nassau University Medical Center, a 631 bed level I Trauma Center, part of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, provides comprehensive medical and mental health screenings for 1,600 inmates of the East Meadow jail. Most outpatient care is provided on site at the Nassau County Correctional Center. Specialty and acute care for the inmates is provided at the Nassau University Medical Center.

Up until April 2005, Mr. Capoziello served in the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as Deputy Commissioner in the Division of Health Care Access and Improvement. He managed an organization of 500 employees with a budget in excess of $152 million dollars. Comprehensive health services were provided to the New York City jail population with more than 1.2 million primary care encounters annually. In addition to overseeing health care for New York City’s inmates, Mr. Capoziello was responsible for operating a network of fifty children’s dental clinics and for contracts with nineteen managed health care organizations, providing health insurance for over 1.4 million Medicaid recipients. Prior to that position, he served as Deputy Commissioner, Division of Health Support Services as Chief Administrative Officer directing all administrative activities in an organization of over 5,000 employees with a budget of approximately $500 million dollars.

In 1979, Mr. Capoziello received his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University in Queens, New York and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Sciences from Siena College, Loudonville, New York in 1975. He has served as an adjunct lecturer at the Columbia University, School of Public Health, lecturing on government administration of public health programs. During the years 1997 and 1998, Mr. Capoziello served as a member of the Bronx District 10 Community Board where he participated in the general review of municipal services and planning in the Throgs Neck/Pelham Bay community.
